Beatrice Fisher

Beatrice Ida (Schoolnick) Fisher, 99, of Springfield, died Feb. 18 at a local nursing home. She was the widow of George Fisher. Born in Russia in 1911, she came to America as an infant with her mother, father and grandfather. She lived in Hartford, Conn., moving to Springfield at 27 when she married. She was an active volunteer in the Jewish Community. She won an award for over 5000 hours of volunteer work in the Jewish Nursing Home and was active in the Jewish Community Center Senior Programs and Temple Beth El. She participated in Jewish Community amateur theater and was a professional book reviewer for various organizations. She is survived by a sister, Shirley Rabinowitz of Waterbury, Conn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Adrienne Fisher of Jericho Center, VT.; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhoda Fisher Nozik and Arthur Nozik of Boulder, CO.; grandchildren, Jayne Nozik of New York, NY., Dr. Eva Nozik Grayck and Joshua Grayck, two great-grandchildren, Maya Rose Grayck and Isaiah Benjamin Grayck all of Greenwood Village, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
