Joseph Benzell

Joseph A. Benzell, 94, of Longmeadow, died Jan. 18. He was the widower of Gertrude (Martin) Benzell. Born in Waterbury, Conn., he was a resident of Longmeadow for the past 60 years. He had owned and operated the former Benzell’s Funiture in Schenectady, N.Y., and after moving to Western Massachusetts became a furniture manufactures representative for over 50 years. He was a former member of B’nai Brith and Sinai Temple. He was also a charter member of Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow. He is survived by leaves four children, Barbara LeVivne of Simsbury, Conn., Jude Sidney of Longmeadow, Martin Benzell and his wife, Sally, of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Amy Benzell Sidman and her husband, Jay, of Longmeadow; a sister, Jackie Baker of Delray Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Abbey, Samantha, Michael, Ben, Scott, Betsy, Emily, Hillary, Nina and Gavin; and two great-grandchildren; Phoebe and Dominic. He was predeceased by three siblings; Herman, Leon, and Mimi Benzell.
