Irving Hochman of Longmeadow died Feb. 10. He was the widower of Francine Hochman. Born in Springfield, in 1923, he was the son of Samuel and Ella. He graduated from the Springfield school system and enlisted in the army, serving during World War II and participating in the five battles in Europe from Normandy to Germany as a Staff Sergeant. He attended Bryant University. He worked in women’s retail stores including Hochman’s Dress Shop in Springfield, he opened two Tall Girl Shops, one in Springfield and one in New Haven, Conn., owned a women’s sportswear department in Waterbury, Conn. and the Arkay Shop on Vernon Street. He was a member of Sinai Temple, B’nai Brith, The Jewish Nursing Home, Rachel’s Table and the Jewish Community Center. President of the Merchant’s Association in Baystate West for a 2 year term. He is survived by a daughter, Amy, of Atlanta, GA; a son, Gary and his wife, Sharon, of Lincoln, NE; , two granddaughters, Andrea and Danielle; a sister, Sylvia and her husband, William, of Springfield; and three nephews, Robert, Alan and Richard Leader.
