Ruth “Babe” Dambrov, 88, of Longmeadow, died March 28 at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow. She was the widow of George Dambrov. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Esther (Broad) Dietz and Samuel Dietz. She graduated from Central High School, attended American International College, and took an advanced decorating course at Bay Path College. For many years, she was co-owner of Tire Mart, Inc., in Springfield with her husband. She later worked in sales at Pioneer Premium Promotions and then at Hampden Furniture. Ruth belonged to and/or volunteered at many service and charitable organizations including the Zonta Club of Springfield, the Baystate Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice of Pioneer Valley, the Caring Friends program at the Jewish Nursing Home, the Salvation Army, Baystate Medical Center, the Springfield Library and Museums Association, the Therapeutic Equestrian Center at Jericho, Hadassah, and Friends of Sinai Temple visiting hospitalized members. She served as a hospice volunteer, providing home care to terminally-ill patients on a one-to-one basis. She was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ann Sinclair; a sister, Dorothy Braddon; and two brothers, Irving Dietz and Joseph Dietz. She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Spencer) Lookner, of Newton, MA; a son, Robert Dambrov, of Longmeadow; a brother, Philip (Diane) Dietz, of Alpharetta, GA; 12 grandchildren, Todd (Jennifer) Sinclair, Shane Sinclair, Yolanda Sinclair, Samuel (Lauren) Lookner, Stephen Lookner, Saul (Christine) Lookner, David (Marieanne) Dambrov, Richard (Jackie) Dambrov, Sarah (Michael) Berg, Stephen Dambrov, Sophia Singer-Dambrov, and Rachel Singer-Dambrov; and seven great-grandchildren, Elijah Sinclair, Grace Sinclair, Amanda Lookner, Cheri Lookner, Mitchell Lookner, Zara Lookner, and Gabriella Dambrov.
