Maurice Norman Katz

Maurice Norman Katz, 90, of Palm Beach, Fla., died Aug. 24 at the Lynn Katz Oncology Unit of Baystate Medical Center. He was the widower of Lynn (Fortgang) Katz. Born and raised in Syracuse, N.Y., he was the son of the late Solomon and Ida Katz. He  served in the Army during World War II. He graduated from MIT with a degree in Metallurgy and then moved to Springfield to go into business with his brother Simon J. Katz at Atlantic Aluminum and Metal Distributors. He was then owner of Jecon Metals Corp. and Now Plastics, Inc., where he has been retired from for many years. He was a member of Temple Beth El, the Jewish Federation of Western Mass., and was a patron of MIT and Syracuse University. He is survived by a daughter, Connie Katz Golber and son-in-law Richard Golber; a son, Jeffrey Katz and daughter-in-law Lorraine Katz; four grandchildren, Josh Allen, Rachel Lemberg, Remy Katz, and Logan Katz; and four great- grandchildren, Brendan and Ryan Allen and Dylan and Zoe Lemberg. He was predeceased by a brother, Simon J. Katz; and a sister-in-law, Rosalind Katz.
