Myrna (Chernofsky) Chernock, 82, of Enfield, Conn., died Friday at a local nursing home. She was the widow of Melvin Chernock. Born in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Chernkofsky. She had lived in Springfield from the time of her marriage in 1950 until she moved to Enfield in 2003. She was employed by the City of Springfield and worked in the Mayor’s office and the Dept. of Public Works as well as on the Bicentennial Committee. She was a Volunteer at the Shriner’s Hospital and a supporter of the Special Olympics. She had also been an independent representative for Fashion 220 and Lady Finelle. She is survived by two children, William Chernock of Gardnerville, NV and Donna (Harold) Cohen of Windsor, Conn.; a brother, Charles Chernofsky; two grandchildren, Rachel Joy and Naomi Miriam Cohen; nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Phyllis Wenger and Albert “Butch” Chernofsky. Memorial contributions may be made to: CT FEAT (CT.
