Mary Bloom

Mary Bloom, 101, of Longmeadow died Nov. 5. She was the widow of Frederick Cohn, Nathan Shatz and Herman Bloom. Raised and educated in Holyoke, she was the daughter of the late Max and Elizabeth Packer. She was a lifelong member of Temple Beth El in Springfield, The Jewish Community Center and Hadassah. She is survived by her daughters, Helaine Levitt and her husband, Marvin, of Boynton Beach, Fla., Louise Cohn Widland and her husband, Michael, of Weston, Conn., and Linda Cohen of York, PA; her grandchildren, Gay-Lisa and Allen Schwalbendorf, Fredi-Ruth Levitt, Robert and Lynn Levitt, Frederick Widland, David and Sondra Widland, Peter Widland, Joshua Cohen and Diana Sanchez, Elyana and Jeremy Funk and Natanya Cohen; nine great-grandchildren Eric, Justin, Nathan, Ethan, Riley, Ronan, Audrey, Noa and Julia;  a step-son, Stephen Shatz and his family, Geoffrey and Adria, and the family of Malcolm Shatz; step-daughters, Muriel Bruskin and her husband, Robert, and Miriam Chaiklin and their families, Jill and David Heaton, Amy and Bob Murah, Joy and John Spadafora and Barry and Gigi Bruskin; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Melissa, Hunter, Jacob, Trevor, Brianna and Brandon; and many loving nieces and nephews and her best friend for almost 70 years, Miriam Baxter. She was predeceased by three brothers, Jack, Ira and Raymond Packer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
