SPRINGFIELD – Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts is offering a series of spring programs at the Jewish Family Service location on the Grinspoon Jewish Community Campus, 1160 Dickinson St.
The “Living with Loss” Support Group, for those who have lost a loved one in the past 12 months, will meet on May 21 and June 4 from 11 a.m. to noon. JFS staff psychologist, Deborah Stier, Ph.D. will facilitate. This program is partially funded by the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts.
Assisted Living: Many Affordable Options will be held on Wednesday, May 30h, at 11 a.m. Expert on older adult issues, Deborah Hollingsworth, MSW, Greater Springfield Senior Services, Inc. will facilitate the discussion as she explains the differences in living options and affordability. It’s part of our short and sweet 30 Minute Morning! Take 30 minutes this month to learn about something new and stay for lunch at the JCC*. Walk-ins are welcome!
For Caregivers and Family Members, “What You Need to Know About Alzheimer’s Disease,” is a multi-week series to expand your understanding of this disease and give you the knowledge to make the very best of every day. Come for one or more Monday evening programs, 6-8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. On May 21, the program will be, “Make Your Home Dementia Safe and Supportive”; on June 4, the evening will discuss “Legal and Financial Planning.” The program facilitators are Melissa Grenier, MSW, Alzheimer’s Association and Todd Ratner, Esquire, Bacon-Wilson. This program is co-sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter and Jewish Family Service.
