Last November, Heritage Academy middle school math students participated in the 27th annual American Mathematics Competition. They competed for local and national student and school awards. Eitan Rothberg’s score of 16 placed him just one point below the top 5 percent of all participants nationwide. He received a pin and certificate for his first place performance. Gabriel Katz and Stephanya Moran also received certificates that acknowledge them as school winners. All three names have been added to the AMC plaque, which is displayed in the main office.
The American Math Competition (AMC) is an annual project sponsored by The Mathematical Association of America. The contest is run across the United States, Canada, and in many schools abroad with the goal of spurring interest in mathematics and to develop talent through excitement of friendly competition at problem solving in a timed format.
