Just in time to celebrate Flag Day On June 14, Heritage Academy received a donation of new American and Israeli flags. Ned Doyle, a veteran of the Vietnam War, led the Flag Day ceremony, giving a brief description to the students about the importance of the American flag and the significance of Flag Day. After he explained how to discard an old flag, the flag was lowered. A Heritage Academy parent led four graduating students in the proper way to fold the flag. The new flag was then raised, as the Star Spangled Banner was sung. Once raised, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the entire school.
Heritage Academy took this day as an opportunity to also acknowledge the importance of the Israeli flag. Students sang the Hatikvah as the new Israeli flag was being raised.
