NORTHAMPTON – Congregation B’nai Israel has named Rabbi Jacob Fine its Senior Educator. Rabbi Fine is a graduate of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies and Vassar College. He is known for his work in Jewish environmental education and also serves as director of the Jewish Farm School, which trains leaders and educators in Jewish approaches to sustainability, food justice and care for the earth. Prior to living in the Pioneer Valley, Rabbi Fine developed innovative approaches to building community through his work as Associate Director of Hillel at the University of Washington. As a rabbinical student, Rabbi Fine was a recipient of the prestigious Wexner Graduate Fellowship and served as the rabbinic intern at IKAR, a Los Angeles community that is a national leader in the “Emergent Minyan” movement.
