First Light Hanukkah Celebration Slated for December 8

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – On Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m., the entire community will join together to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah at the Springfield JCC, 1160 Dickinson St. in Springfield.
The program will begin with a brief Havdallah service to mark the end of Shabbat, and will feature the lighting of one of the largest menorahs in Western Massachusetts. In addition, this event will offer “Saturday Night Live for Families” with a rock wall, the JCC game room and gym, a DJ dance party in the auditorium, tie-die in the arts & crafts room, and traditional Hanukkah foods — latkes and sufganiyot (jelly donuts).
The First Light Hanukkah Celebration is sponsored by the Springfield JCC and the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts. It is supported by the Sklar family, and by Curt Freedman in memory of his wife, Sheryl.
