Esther (Goldstein) Hechler, 95, formerly of East Longmeadow, died Oct. 20 in Brighton. She was the widow of Clarence Hechler. Born in Holyoke, she was a graduate of Central High School. She grew up in Springfield where she lived until moving to East Longmeadow in 1968. She was a graduate of American International College where she received her degree in commercial teaching. She was a secretary for the Home builders Association of Western Massachusetts and prior to that she worked for the former Stonehaven Hotel. She was a former member of Sinai Temple, a member of the League of Women Voters and the Springfield Jewish Community Center. She was a volunteer for the Springfield Jewish Federation, Springfield Museum Assoc. and the Springfield Symphony office. She is survived by a son, Michael, of Brookline; two daughters, Susan Hechler of Berlin, Germany and Laura Hechler of Brookline; and two grandsons, Benjamin and Daniel.
