Congregation B’nai Torah (CBT) welcomed more than 50 teenagers from Connecticut and Western Massachusetts for the Hebrew High School of New England (HHNE) Longmeadow Shabbaton on Jan. 4th-6th. Seventh, eighth and ninth graders from Heritage Academy, Yeshiva Academy, HHNE, Hebrew Academy, and local public schools shared Shabbat together on this memorable weekend.
Coordinated by Heritage Academy Judaic coordinator, Tali Edry; HHNE Dean of Students, Rabbi Shimmy Trencher; CBT youth director, Yehuda Edry; and CBT Rabbi Max Davis, the weekend celebration of Shabbat was filled with community building events. Eight host families opened their homes to the young students. The Shabbaton was kicked off with the lighting of the Shabbat candles at CBT. Students attended services, nurtured friendships, dined with one another, and wrapped up the weekend with ice skating at Forest Park Cyr Arena and laser tag at CBT.
