Friday, Jan. 11 marked a milestone in the lives of five first graders at Heritage Academy. After weeks of waiting, Sam Starkman, Talya Weiss,Hillel Kofsky, Leah Katz, and Gabe Berman were presented with their first Siddur (prayerbook). Judaics coordinator and first grade Hebrew teacher, Tali Edry, spoke directly to the first graders before distributing each Siddur. “The Siddur is your way to communicate with G-d through prayer. You are blessed to receive it at this young age.” First grader, Talya Weiss, savored the Siddur celebration.
“I was so excited to receive my Siddur. I loved all of the songs and when we got our Siddurs. It was fun to celebrate with all the families.”
A few days later, Heritage students celebrated geography by showcasing their projects at the annual Geography Fair and participating in a Geography Bee. Miriam Edry was declared winner and was awarded the winning medal by Mrs. Chris Heath, the middle school history teacher.
