WESTERN MASS. – Since beginning the Create a Jewish Legacy program in 2008 to encourage planned giving, 550 families have made more than 800 commitments to 19 organizations in Western Massachusetts. These future gifts (an estimated $20 million) come from people of all ages and financial capacity with something important in common – the desire to continue to help organizations they love beyond their lifetime.
To say thank you, the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Western Massachusetts (JEF) is having a dinner on Sunday, Oct. 20 at Mill 1 at Open Square in Holyoke. The event will begin at 5:30 pm and will feature keynote speaker Jason Franklin, executive director of Bolder Giving.
The evening will also feature the launch of the Book of Life, a compilation of stories about Create a Jewish Legacy donors and why they have chosen to make a legacy gift to the Jewish community of Western Massachusetts. Everyone has a story to share, and the Book of Life is a way of recording the stories of generous donors for future generations. Some stories are already available for viewing on the JEF’s website www.jefwesternmass.org.
Watch for your “Save the Date” postcard and personal invitation in the mail.
