Community Mitzvah Day Slated for November 3

SPRINGFIELD – The Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts is sponsoring a community-wide Mitzvah Day on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Volunteers can choose from a variety of hands-on projects, including harvesting produce from a local farm and delivering it to a Rachel’s Table agency, painting a synagogue, knitting blankets for premature babies in the neonatal unit at Baystate Medical Center, cupcake decorating with nursing home residents, and more. Projects will be located in both the Lower and Upper Valley. Some projects are family-friendly, and both indoor and outdoor activities are planned.

Mark your calendars now, and watch your mail for more information! Registration will be available soon online at www.jewishwesternmass.org. Register early for the best selection, as some projects have limits on the number of volunteers required. First-come, first-served! For more information, contact Debbie Peskin at (413) 737-4313, ext. 121 or dpeskin@jewishwesternmass.org.
