Norman Epstein, 91, of Longmeadow, a noted physician who delivered thousands of local babies over a 50-year career, died at his home on Aug. 29. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Janice Epstein. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Fannie (Katz) Epstein. He was a graduate of Classical High School, Yale College, and Cornell Medical School. He served as a Captain in the Air Force in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Hampden County and Massachusetts Medical Societies, the Springfield Maimonides Society, Temple Beth El, and Crestview Country Club. He is survived by his children, Laura and Bill Lebow of Cambridge, Phyllis and Steve Sensenig of San Diego, Calif., Susan and Lenny Shaker of Longmeadow; and Margie and Don Smith of Longmeadow; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Dana, and Lauren Shaker; Alexandra and Nick Dayton; and Daniel Smith; a sister, Roslyn Leiter; and several nieces and nephews.
