Jewish Federation of Western MA Announces Leadership

SPRINGFIELD — The Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts (JFWM) has announced the members of its 2014 Leadership Team:

Susan Weiss Firestone

Susan Weiss Firestone, President
As of October 2013, Susan Weiss Firestone assumed the position of president of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts after serving as annual campaign chair from 2011-2013. In her long volunteer career, Firestone has served in nearly every leadership capacity on both the Jewish Endowment Foundation and Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts Boards. In addition to her leadership role locally, she is a past member of the national Young Leadership cabinet and currently serves on the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) Board of Trustees and the Global Planning Table. Additionally, she serves in leadership roles locally at Temple Beth El and nationally as a member of the national Board of Melton. When not volunteering, she serves as president of Plastic Packaging Corporation.

Susan S. Goldman, Chair, 2014 Annual Campaign
In October 2013, Susan Goldman assumed the position of Annual Campaign Chair of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts after serving as Major Gift Chair from 2011-2013. Previously, Goldman has held leadership positions in Hadassah, Heritage Academy, Jewish Family Services, and Sinai Temple. Susan is a Ruby Lion of Judah and a member of the Create Jewish Legacy program. When not volunteering, she is a licensed social worker providing psychotherapy and counseling services to adolescents, adults, couples and families.

Betsey E. Freedman, Chair, Women’s Philanthropy
After her appointment to the National Women’s Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federations of North America in 2013, Betsey took on the local leadership position of Women’s Philanthropy Chair. Prior to her appointment as chair,
Freedman served as Women’s Campaign Chair in 2013 and over the years has served on many local and international Boards, including, but not limited to, Bay Path College, Bay State Medical, and the Ronald McDonald House. In addition to her expanded role at Federation, she is currently active at Sinai Temple, Jewish Geriatric Services and AIPAC. When not volunteering her time for the community, she works on behalf of an international foundation providing services in Cuba.

Endowment Foundation of Western Massachusetts
As of October 2013, Dr. Bruce Wintman assumed the position of Chair of the Jewish Endowment Foundation after serving as vice chair from 2011-2013. Over the past
10 years, Wintman has served in leadership capacities on both the Jewish Endowment Foundation and Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts Boards, including
campaign chair for Federation and as a member of the Investment Committee, Anna P. Housen Israel Desk, and Distribution Committee. He is a Board Certified
Orthopedic Surgeon at The Hand Center of Western Massachusetts.
