A weekend of learning at JCA with Professor Joshua Jacobson

AMHERST – Professor Joshua Jacobson, musical director and founder of the Zamir Chorale of Boston, will be the scholar-in-residence at the Jewish Community of Amherst March 21-23.
On Friday March 21 services will begin at 6:15 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. and a short presentation by Prof. Jacobson.
On Saturday March 22, services with D’var Torah by Prof. Jacobson will begin at 10 a.m.; followed by a Kiddush open to all in the Library at 12:15 p.m. and lunch in the social hall 12:30 p.m.
From 1:30-3:30 p.m. Prof. Jacobson will give a talk, “How Jewish is Jewish Music?”
On Sunday, March 23, at 9:30 a.m. Prof. Jacobson will speak on “Jews and Jazz: the relationship of Jews and jazz over the last 100 years in the U.S. and what it means for the acculturation of Jews in America.” Bagels and coffee will be served at 9 a.m.
