WESTBOROUGH – The 7th annual Yom Hashoah Essay and Art Awards were presented at Worcester’s Yom Hashoah commemoration on Sunday, April 27 at Beth Tikvah Synagogue in Westborough. The Yom Hashoah Essay Committee awards young people in grades 6 through 12 for essay, poetry and art work related to the Holocaust.
“It is of course so important that memory is continued,” said Larry Cann, chair of the Yom Hashoah Essay Committee. “This year’s challenge asked our young people to focus on the Jewish victims of the Shoah, even perhaps a family member.”
The event was co-sponsored by Beth Tikvah Synagogue, Congregation Beth Israel, Congregation B’nai Shalom, Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts, the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and Temple Emanuel Sinai.
