Jacob “Jerry” Shalom Herzenberg, 91, of Boca Raton, Fla., died May 29 at home. He was the husband of Helen (Chernaik) Herzenberg. He grew up in Holyoke, the son of Sam and Mildred Herzenberg. He graduated from Holyoke High School. In 1943, he volunteered for the U.S. Army and as a corporal in the Army Air Corps in China, during World War II manning forward air bases. He served as a maintenance and supply coordinator for the famed Flying Tigers unit. He and his wife were the owners of Kitchens by Herzenberg in Agawam. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Paul Herzenberg and his wife, Kim Liew Herzenberg, Jane Sagalyn and her husband, Jim, and John Herzenberg and his wife, Merrill Chaus; his grandchildren, David Herzenberg, Emily Sagalyn, Jesse Reiter and his wife, Ayreene, Sheena Reiter, and Alexandra, Danielle and Brittany Herzenberg; and his great-granddaughters, Isabella and Dixie Reiter.
