Sydell (Tepper) Israel, 89, of Worcester, died Aug. 11 in Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Leonard Israel. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Baehr) Tepper. She was a graduate of Hunter College in New York City. She had lived in Worcester for 67 years. She was a member of Temple Emanuel Sinai, the Jewish Healthcare Center, B’Nai Brith Women and Worcester Chapter of Hadassah. She was very active in youth programs including Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She had worked as a bookkeeper for the Worcester Jewish Federation for many years. She is survived by a son, Mark Israel and his fiancée, Joni Fraser of South Hadley; two daughters, Ellen Israel of Worcester and Judith Israel of Newton; a brother, Maurice Tepper of Chappaqua, NY; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, Alexander, and Adam.
