Linda Katz Hammerman, 66, of Cheshire, Conn., died Oct. 1 after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Rob Hammerman. She was the daughter of Morton H. Katz of Enfield, Conn. and the late Alice Mark Katz. She grew up in Springfield, attended public schools and graduated from Classical High School in 1965. She graduated from Boston University in 1969 with a degree in Education. She worked at several positions in city and state social service organizations in San Francisco, Calif., Stamford, Conn., and Waterbury, Conn. In her most recent position, she served as Chief Probation Officer for the Court Support Services, in the Connecticut Judicial Department. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jeremy; a sister, Annette Levine, and her husband, Jack, of West Hartford, Conn.; nieces, Alison Levine Minde and Jennifer Levine Brogadir and their husbands; a brother-in-law, David Hammerman, his wife, Sylvia; nephews, Aaron and Sam; a step-sister, Betsey Wolfson; and step-brother, Lewis Wolfson. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Dorothy B. Katz. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire Park and Recreation Gift Fund in memory of Linda Hammerman or the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven:
