Last Chance for Jewish Holiday Home Tour tickets!

SPRINGFIELD — Have you ever tried homemade challah? Have you ever thought of starting your own dreidel collection and weren’t sure where to start? Do you need a kosher caterer, but haven’t had a chance to try any? Have you ever wondered why challah is shaped differently on different holidays or why Jews brave the elements to celebrate sukkot? On Sunday, Oct. 19th, you will have the chance to sample homemade challah bread, check out a dreidel collection of 25+ collected over the last 2 decades, try kosher dishes from Catering by Meital, Cheryl Blonder’s Kosher Catering, and Chez Josef, as well as learn both the history and the “why’s” behind our favorite Jewish holidays from local educators.
You can get all of this and more by touring five (5) Longmeadow homes October 19th between 1 and 4 p.m. on a self-guided Jewish holiday home tour presented by the Women’s Philanthropy Steering Committee of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts. Each home will have a holiday theme: Passover, Shabbat, Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah or Sukkot and showcase the beautiful decor and creativity of their hosts. Tickets are available at the Federation offices (located in the Springfield Jewish Community Center at 1160 Dickinson St.) for $36. All proceeds will benefit the PJ Library of Western Massachusetts, a joint program of our Federation and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. PJ Library is a Jewish family engagement program providing free, high-quality Jewish children’s literature and music to families on a monthly basis. A sampling of these holiday themed books will be on display in each home.
