Rachel’s Table FoodRaiser Event on Nov. 2 will Help Feed the Hungry

SPRINGFIELD – Join Rachel’s Table for The FoodRaiser, a shopping contest on Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Longmeadow Big Y, from 10 a.m. to noon. Now in its eighth year, the FoodRaiser is a friendly contest in which shoppers compete to buy the most food for the least amount of money. Prizes are awarded for the greatest savings. All the food purchased will be donated directly to the agencies of Rachel’s Table. Last year’s event raised more than $10,000 worth of food for the hungry in Springfield.
Your $5 entrance fee is tax deductible and includes a t-shirt and lots of fun.
New England Orthopedic Surgeons and The Harold Grinspoon Foundation are the premier sponsors for this year’s Rachel’s Table FoodRaiser. These sponsorships allow more young people to participate in the Foodraiser.
Bring your family and friends – The more shoppers that compete, the more people can be helped. No minimum amount of time or money is necessary. Come by for 20 minutes or a half hour and buy a cartful or just several items- every purchase helps feed those in need.
You can virtually shop by sponsoring a youth team to do the shopping for you. No minimum required. Send a tax-deductible contribution in any amount to Rachel’s Table with a note saying it’s for the FoodRaiser sponsorship. Every penny will be spent on food purchases for our hungry neighbors.
To participate, please contact Debbie Rubenstein 733-0084 or drubenstein@jewishwesternmass.org
Rachel’s Table is a project of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts and WWLP-TV22.
