Ethel Grant of Longmeadow and Delray Beach, Fla., died Dec. 2. She was the widow of Bernard Grant. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lillian Smith. A graduate of Commerce High School, she served as a Navy WAVE for two years during World War II. After raising her family, she was employed as an administrative assistant for 10 years with the Division of Employment Security. After her retirement, she actively volunteered with Hadassah, where she was a lifelong member. She was also very active with the Jewish War Veterans. She also served as chairwoman of the Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered her services with the Jewish Community Center. She is survived by four children, Sandra Goldstein, Gary Grant, David Grant, and Shelley Grant; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her siblings Rachel Singer of Manchester, Conn., Ruth Miller of Williamsville, N.Y. and Israel (Dee) Smith of Maryland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters Shirley (Phil) Davis and Flora (Yakov) Galipolitti.
