SPRINGFIELD – This March, the JCC Actors Repertory Theater (J-Art) will be staging “Seussical: The Musical” at the Springfield Jewish Community Center as a part of the celebration of the 111th birthday of Dr. Seuss. Performances of “Seussical the Musical,” directed by J-ART member Eric Frary, 23, of Holyoke, will be presented from March 5 – 15.
Based on the work of Dr. Seuss, “Seussical: The Musical” tells the story of Horton the Elephant as he tries to protect the tiny world of Who and prove to the world “a person’s a person, no matter how small.”
“It’s about being kind and respectful to others,” says cast member Lisa Rizzo, 24, of West Springfield. “What’s great about Dr. Seuss is that it doesn’t matter how old you are. You still relate and connect to the characters and story.”
J-Art is a young adult theater company of artists and technicians between the ages of 15 and 30 dedicated to providing young adults with space and opportunities to create, learn new skills, and refine their craft.
