Learning about Tu B’Shevat

Heritage Academy middle school students and 6th graders from Lander-Grinspoon Academy in Northampton came together to celebrate and learn about Tu B’Shevat.

heritage Tu B 2Teachers incorporated the holiday into their lessons in subjects such as science, English, art and Judaic studies. Students took part in making terrariums, a tree mural, edible flowers, and poetry, all symbolic of the holiday.

Heritage Academy is a leadership school, so the 4th and 5th graders came up with a fun way in which students in grades kindergarten through grade three could also learn about Tu B’Shevat. The students created an art project, played educational games and enjoyed a presentation on the seven species.
