Heritage Academy middle school students and 6th graders from Lander-Grinspoon Academy in Northampton came together to celebrate and learn about Tu B’Shevat.
Teachers incorporated the holiday into their lessons in subjects such as science, English, art and Judaic studies. Students took part in making terrariums, a tree mural, edible flowers, and poetry, all symbolic of the holiday.
Heritage Academy is a leadership school, so the 4th and 5th graders came up with a fun way in which students in grades kindergarten through grade three could also learn about Tu B’Shevat. The students created an art project, played educational games and enjoyed a presentation on the seven species.
