William M. Franklin, 98, of Northborough, formerly of Webster and Dudley, died March 30. Born in Webster, he was the son of Myer and Mary (Levinsky). He was the widower of Mildred (Levitz) Franklin and Rita (Fauer) Franklin. He owned and operated Biljac’s Dress Shop in Webster for many years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Congregation Sons of Israel of Webster and the Webster Lodge of Masons. He was a member of the Northborough Senior Center. On Sept. 22, 2013 at Fenway Park, he was chosen to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” before a sold out crowd of 37,000 during the seventh inning stretch. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by six sons, Rabbi Stephen Franklin and his wife, Karen of Yonkers, New York, Michael Franklin of Northborough, Homer Sewell of Georgia, Barry Ferency, Gershon Ferency of Bat Ayin, Israel, and Stuart Ferency and his wife, Susan of Hull, Mass; a daughter, Anne Teguis and her husband, Milton, of Kennebunk, Maine and Estero, Fla.; two brothers, Jack Franklin of Dalton and Maurie Franklin of Miami Beach, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
