Joseph C. Casden, of Longmeadow has died. He was the husband of Susan (Stagnaro) Ladner Casden. Born in Holyoke, he was the son of the late Herman and Eva (Roth) Cohen. He was a graduate of Holyoke High School, the University of Massachusetts, and Cornell University. He served in the United States Army in Germany during World War II. He received his law degree from Western New England College and was a member of the Massachusetts Bar. He was a practicing Certified Public Accountant for over 53 years with his brother at Casden and Casden CPA’s. He was a member of Temple Beth El of Springfield and Beth Israel Synagogue of Aruba, and was a member of the men’s club in Congregation Rodphey Sholom in Holyoke. He was a 50-year member of the Melha Shrine Military Band of Springfield playing clarinet. He was a lifelong member of the Springfield musician union 171. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Caryl Casden of Benicia, Calif., Jennifer Casden of Washington, D.C., Janet Lyon of Springfield, and Michael Ladner and his wife, Diane, of Springfield; five grandchildren, Jamie Casden, Aaron and Adam Lyon, and Melissa and Matthew Ladner; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Casden of Longmeadow; a niece, Lisa Casden; and nephew, Cory Casden. He was predeceased by a brother, Merwin Casden. Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
