SPRINGFIELD – The Kehillah Special Needs Department at the Springfield JCC will host an inclusive New Year’s Eve’s Eve party on Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 7-9 p.m. for individuals with disabilities in the Greater Springfield area.
Kehillah has held the dance since 2009 and each year the celebration continues to grow. The event has included live bands, singers and DJ’s. The auditorium turns into a dance studio complete with refreshments, hors d’oeuvre bar, and festive decorations.
This event is for ages 14 and older. The night concludes with a traditional “10..9..8..” countdown followed by “Auld Lang Syne.”
“Once everyone is out on the dance floor smiling together, the line that divides the guests with disabilities from the guests without becomes completely invisible,” said Kehillah Director Bethany Young.
“This is by far one of my favorite nights at the Center,” says JCC Executive Director, Michael Paysnick. “There is a natural connection between the Kehillah participants and the teen volunteers.”
If you are interested in joining in the fun call the JCC at (413) 739-4715, ext. 325 to register.
