Jeanette A. (Solomon) Ascher, 91, of Sun City West, AZ, and formerly of Springfield, died Jan. 18 at home. She was the widow of Harold R. Ascher. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Maurice Solomon and Gertrude (Chalfin) Solomon Gross, and had lived in Springfield from 1945 until moving to Arizona in 2010. She was the co-founder and bookkeeper of the former Harold R. Ascher Funeral Home and the former Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel. She was a member of Temple Beth El, B’nai Brith, JGS Lifecare, Congregation B’nai Torah, Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy, a life member of Hadassah, Springfield Jewish Community Center, Alzheimer’s Association and Autism Speaks. She is survived by a son, Robert Ascher and his wife, Linda, of Surprise, AZ; a daughter, Lori Seed and her husband, Rabbi David Seed of Toronto, Canada; grandchildren, Ryan (Shannon) Ascher, Melissa (Branden) Weaver, Gabriel (Nina) Kertzmer-Seed, Ayelet Seed, Joshua Seed, and Shannon Ascher; and great-grandchildren, Colin Ascher, Sophie Whittington, Holden Weaver, and Grayson Weaver. She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Ascher; and a granddaughter, Beckie.
