William Zane Lavin, 75, of West Suffield, Conn., died Jan. 31. He was the husband of Cathie Lavin. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Louis & Helen (Laboritz) Lavin. He was a graduate of Classical High School and American International College, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in 1963 and his Master of Arts in 1968. He taught English at Ludlow and Classical High Schools. He served as a Transportation Manager for his family’s business, Springfield Beef, founded Pilgrim’s Products in Quincy, Mass., was the owner of Ichabod’s Restaurant in Springfield, and established E-Z Courier, which provided transportation to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Karen Rege; his children, Rae Lisa, Anna, Joshua and his wife, Melanie, Jessica, and Jordan; his grandchildren, Corinne, Cole, Chloe and Jacob.
