SPRINGFIELD – Attorney Ellen Freyman of Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C. in Springfield is one of only three 2016 Excellence in the Law honorees in the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s annual Excellence in Law Award in the Pro Bono category.
Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly honors individual attorneys who demonstrate excellence in the legal community and continually go above and beyond in the service of justice. “We are thrilled that Ellen has received this Excellence in the Law Award for her Pro Bono work. She continually demonstrates her passion for the community by working with countless organizations and nonprofits,” said Founding Attorney Steven J. Schwartz. “She is a true example of what attorneys should strive to be, not only a client advocate but a volunteer in our local community.”
Attorney Freyman, a resident of Longmeadow, concentrates her practice in all aspects of commercial real estate and has an extensive land use practice that includes zoning, subdivision, project permitting and environmental matters. Freyman is a graduate of the Western New England University School of Law and Pennsylvania State University.
She serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Hampden County Bar Association; Massachusetts Bar Association; American Bar Association; Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association; Community Music School of Springfield; Friends of the Homeless; and Jewish Family Services of Western Massachusetts.
This year’s awards ceremony, hosted by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in partnership with the Massachusetts Bar Association, will take place May 4 at the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel in Boston.
