Students making their own round challah for Rosh Hashana at Heritage Academy.

Heritage Academy students and staff observed the beginning of the New Year last week with a school-wide celebration that included arts and crafts, apple picking, trivia, singing, and dancing. Students decorated honey jars and accented plates with images of pomegranates and blessings for the holiday to take home for their families’ festive meals. Every student braided and baked their own round challah, garnished with raisins and cinnamon for a sweet new year. The highlight of the festivities was when each staff member, including new Head of School Michelle Konigsburg, was presented with handmade cards while the students expressed in song and dance the importance of appreciating one another.
