Herbert (Herb) Levinsky, 88, of Springfield, died Feb. 24 at the Jewish Nursing Home. He was the husband of Roslyn Levinsky. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Esther and Joe Levinsky. He worked in the men’s clothing field and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (ACWA). He was honorably discharged from the United States Army, having served in the military police during the Korean conflict. He worked for many years for Forbes & Wallace-the region’s largest department store, as the Men’s Clothing Buyer. He was a longtime member of Temple Beth El and the National Yiddish Book Center in Amherst. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jerry; a daughter, Gail; a grandson, Joshua; and a brother, Leon.
