Sidney Ziff, 94, of East Longmeadow, died Feb. 25 at Baystate Medical Center. He was the husband of Rebecca “Bobbie” (Ascher) Ziff. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Anna and Louis Ziff. He was a graduate of Technical High School and went to work at Package Machinery Co., before entering the Army during World War II, serving in the 10th Army Tank Corps as a first sergeant with the 544th Field Artillery, C Battery in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Crestview Country Club, the Jewish Federation, and Sinai Temple for over 65 years. He was co-owner of Mister Big Discount Department Stores from 1959 to 1989, and owned some Kentucky Fried Chicken and TCBY stores. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Michelle Ziff Hanson and her husband, Donald; twin sons, Alan Ziff and his wife, Lana, and Lane Ziff; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
