HFLA says farewell to Elaine Geha at Annual Meeting
The Hebrew Free Loan Association of Greater Springfield said farewell to Elaine Geha, HFLA director for the past 13 years at its 24th Annual Meeting June 4 at Sinai Temple in Springfield. The board honored Geha by establishing an emergency loan fund, “Gemilut Hasadim” in her name. Rabbi Howard Kosovske delivered the invocation, quoting from the Bible about the importance of lending money or goods to the needy without “exacting interest,” which is what HFLA is all about.
Keynote speaker Craig Kazin, who sits on the Board of Governors and volunteers as a clown for the Shriners Hospital, spoke about the medical care the hospital provides for children.
HFLA distributed five new loans and took in $14,000 in donations this past year — a record – which will facilitate many more loans in the coming year.
The meeting concluded with a performance by Mak’hela: The Jewish Chorus of Western Mass.
