Monica Beth Macaris, 55, of Agawam, died Aug. 18 at Heritage Hall South. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter the late Edmund A. Macaris and Iris B. (Ginsberg) Macaris. She studied business and computer science at Springfield Technical Community College after graduating from the High School of Commerce in 1981. She worked for many years at Filene’s and Macy’s. She pursued her love of dance by attending classes at Mary Ann Studio of Dance with her mom, performing for local nursing homes and the much-anticipated annual recital. She volunteered for many years to staff the phone bank of the annual muscular dystrophy telethon. She is survived by a sister, Stephanie Macaris Alusow; two brothers, Michael Macaris and Steven Macaris; two brothers-in-law, John Alusow and Paul Barrows; two aunts, Frances Ginsberg and France Wolfe; and numerous cousins. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. ASCHER-ZIMMERMAN FUNERAL HOME
