Shirley (Solomon) Mindel, 91, of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Sept. 7. She was the widow of Michael Mindel. Born in Middletown, Conn., she was raised in New London, Conn. and was the daughter of the late Nathan Max and Bessie (Shafner) Solomon. Before moving to Florida in 1996, she resided in Springfield. She and her late husband were the co-owners of the former Feldman Letter Service of Springfield. She was a member of B’nai Brith, the former Kodimoh Synagogue, Congregation Anshei Shalom in West Palm Beach, Fla., and the National Council of Jewish Women. She was a life member of Hadassah and was one of the founding members of the Pioneer Valley Yacht Club of Longmeadow. She was a member of the Century Village Sailing Club and Drama Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., where she was also an editor of the Century Village Club newspaper, and a columnist for the Snorkel Club. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Michael Scheer of Longmeadow; a sister, Marion Mindel of Springfield; a brother, Sanford “Bud” Solomon of Niantic, Conn.; a granddaughter, Amy and her husband, Jake Schofield, of Hollywood, Md.; close friend, Leon Aronson of West Palm Beach, Fla. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Solomon. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah or Sinai Temple. ASCHER-ZIMMERMAN FUNERAL HOME
