Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King

SPRINGFIELD – On Monday, Jan. 15, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Springfield JCC Early Learning Center (ELC) held a rally to learn about Dr. King and his teachings. “Children learn to look on the inside.  Today we are bringing together love and peace through the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said ELC Director Deb Cohen. Groups of students were given signs with either the word “Peace” or “Together” written on them, onto which they later added their own creativity through coloring.

ELC student Lena Morris, who was inspired by Dr. King’s teachings, said, “It doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, it matters what you look like on the inside!”
