Marjorie (Sodafsky) Malitz, 86, of West Hartford died Feb. 12. She was the widow of Larry Malitz. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Sady (Ackerman) Sodafsky. She graduated Weaver High School as salutatorian of her class. She graduated Wellesley College with a BA in psychology with honors. Following college she worked as a social worker. As a young mother, she volunteered and eventually worked in the West Hartford school system. She was a long time member of Beth El Temple in West Hartford and was very active in the Sisterhood and Chai Society. She is survived by a son, Steven Malitz, Esq. and his wife, Stacey Malitz, of West Hartford; a daughter, Leslie (Malitz) Kaim and her husband, Dr. Steven Kaim, of Longmeadow; three grandchildren, Ezra and Sadie Kaim and Eva Malitz; and a brother, Seymour Sard and his wife, Diane, of Boca Raton, Fla.
