HOLYOKE – On the Saturday night before Purim, Sons of Zion members baked hundreds of hamantaschen, some to be served at subsequent Purim events; some distributed as Shalach Manot (gifts of food).
Sunday was the world premier of a hilarious and creative play- “Purim, the Musical”- written and directed by Richard Freyman. Sons of Zion members of all ages performed songs, dances, and acrobatic feats to a very full, enthusiastic and appreciative audience. In keeping with the Purim mitzvah of providing Matanot L’evyonim , the Tikkun Olam Committee, in cooperation with Rachel’s Table, collected bags of food for Holyoke school-children from low income households.
CAP: Rabbi Saul Perlmutter enjoys hamantaschen with some young SOZ members.
