Beatrice (Miller) Canan, 95, of North Reading, died Aug. 3. She was the widow of Philip Canan. Born in Worcester and raised in Brookfield, she was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Levine) Miller and was raised in Brookfield. She had lived in Worcester for many years, moving to North Reading 13 years ago. She had been a bookkeeper for the Jewish Community Center in Worcester for many years. She was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Israel of Worcester.
She is survived by two sons, David Canan and his wife, Michelle, of North Reading, and Howard Canan of North Oxford and Sharra Canan of Holden; a sister, Nancy Gordon of Boston; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by five sisters, Irene Kadis, Goldie Gladstone, Miriam Robinson, Edith Sadowsky and Hilda Witkes. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Israel, 15 Jamesbury Drive, Worcester, MA 01609; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
