LYA commemorates September 11

Members of the Longmeadow Fire Department and Police Department attended a September 11 ceremony at Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy. Students dressed in red, white and blue in honor of the flag for the program, which was led by middle school students Rochel Leah Schwartz and Rishi Wolvovsky.

During the ceremony Eyal Ben Naim led the school with a chapter of psalms. Rabbi Noach Kosofsky, Head of School, addressed the students and visitors with words of Torah, and Heather Sullivan, assistant director of Education, spoke of the bravery of the first responders. Mushka Kulek and Sima Stiefel read poems written by LYA alumna Chana Wolvovsky about the heroism seen on 9/11 and what we can learn from the day.

The early childhood students baked chocolate chip cookies that were presented to representatives from the Longmeadow Police and Fire Department.
