Adrienne (Scharaga) Plotkin, 86, of Longmeadow, died Sept. 22 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Leonard (Bob) Plotkin. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was raised in Hartford, Conn., and graduated from the University of Connecticut. After raising her five children, she obtained a Master of Education from Antioch College. She worked for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health for more than 32 years, advocating for patients’ rights. She retired in 2010 from her position as Human Rights Coordinator. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her five children, Richard Plotkin and his wife, Patricia Sweeney, Susan Dellheim and her husband, Dave Huntoon, Michael Plotkin and his wife, Tammy, Lisa Meskin and her husband, Laurence, and David Plotkin and his wife, Maya; a brother, Stuart Scharaga and his wife, Joan; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Zachary, Jarret, Avery, Carly, Malek, Sadie, Zoe, Sena, and Zaid; and a niece, Debbie Scharaga Graves. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
