Esther Green, 96, of Longmeadow, died Oct. 12. She was the widow of Michael Green. Born in Queens, N.Y., he was the son of Max and Sarah Pessel. She graduated from Brooklyn College and went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in psychology from Teachers’ College of Columbia University. After the war, she was employed by the Stevens Institute of Technology evaluating GIs for post-war vocational aptitude. She worked as a school psychologist for many years and retired from South Hadley Public Schools. She is survived by a son, Henry; two daughters, Erica and her husband, Barry Kaplan, and Myra and her husband, Rick Gipstein; and grandchildren Matthew, Samuel and wife Kara-Jane, Elizabeth, Andrew, Sophia, and Aaron. Memorial contributions may be made to the Yiddish Book Center, the Glenmeadow Staff Education Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
