It IS Good to Thank God!

HOLYOKE – On Thanksgiving eve, 15 members of Congregation Sons of Zion attended the “Together in Thanks, Together in Faith” interfaith service held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Holyoke, building from the relationships that developed days after the massacre at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh – where more than 100 people walked from the United Congregational Church to Sons of Zion for a service of hope and healing. The Thanksgiving service was filled with words of praise for God and gratitude of those who are dear, shared by St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Pastor Phil Gustafson, Pastor Charles and Roberta Morkin and Associate Pastor Lance Humphrey from the United Congregational Church, and Rabbi Saul Perlmutter from Congregation Sons of Zion. The church choir sang and the “Sweet Singers of Zion” chorus rocked the house with a spirited version of Psalm 92 – “It is Good to Thank God.” Shown here are members of SOZ, UCC and St. Peter’s at the pre-Thanksgiving service.
