Barry E. Martin, 77, of Worcester, died Nov. 27 at Holden Nursing Home after a courageous battle with ALS – Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Meyer and Anne (Cohen) Martin. He was a graduate of Commerce High School; attended Worcester Junior College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bryant College. He worked for the Registry of Motor Vehicles and then for the State Tax Department, retiring in 2003. In the private sector he worked for Foster Grant and Day-Paul Plastics as a Cost Accountant for over 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for many years. He is survived by a brother, Stuart Martin and his wife, Kay, of Sharon; a sister, Rhonda Sigel and her husband, Ira, of Worcester; nephews, Adam Sigel and his wife, Olga, of North Reading and Seth Sigel and his wife, Kristin, of Woodinville, Wash.; and a niece, Alyssa Short and her husband, Michael, of Stoughton.
